      We’re seeking a future team member for the role Head of Strategy, Director to join our BNY Mellon Markets & Execution Services team. The position is located in New York, NY (Hybrid - requires 3 days in the office).

      What We Do:

      The Strategy team plays a central role in shaping the strategic vision and execution of critical initiatives for BNY Mellon Markets & Execution Services. The team works with senior leadership to define, analyze, and articulate strategic direction, business performance, and opportunities for growth. We enable effective Executive-Level communication of high impact and high visibility initiatives and facilitate decision making for BNY Mellon Executives and its Board of Directors. Reporting to the Markets Chief Operating Officer, the head of Strategy will work closely with the Markets executive team to ensure the strategic advancement of our business.

      In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

      • Being entrepreneurial and self-directed - able to take a conceptual business challenge from an initial set of facts and hypotheses to real, practical solutions.
      • Working closely with senior business leaders as a trusted advisor.
      • Being intellectually curious and interested in the future of financial services and shaping an industry through one of its major stakeholders.
      • Managing complexity and leading multiple projects with an unrelenting focus and prioritization.
      • Being a thoughtful communicator who can express complex ideas in simple, practical terms for a wide range audience.
      • Assessing market trends that are driving changing client needs, service models, and market infrastructure.
      • Sizing the addressable market, including segmenting prospective clients, estimating revenue pools, and suggesting go-to-market options.
      • Mapping the peer and competitor landscape to understand relative positioning, identify potential partnerships, and assess potential responses to our market entry.

      Bringing a global mindset and working across a diverse set of environments

      Lead and structure analyses on critical initiatives to solve complex business problems, and develop approaches to deliver growth, innovation or tease out synergies.

      Run annual/quarterly strategy processes and develop strategic plans for BNY Mellon Executive Committee, Board of Directors, or Investor Day presentations.

      Manage teams to structure and deliver exceptionally high-quality materials in support of executive communications.

      Identify and evaluate organic and inorganic growth opportunities, including strategic external partnerships, alongside business line experts.

      Work collaboratively with corporate and divisional teams (including Corporate Strategy, Corporate Development, Finance, Human Resources, and other Business divisions) to achieve organizational objectives and ensure alignment with Bank-wide initiatives.

      To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:

      • Prior work experience in Strategy and/or Management Consulting is needed.
      • Experience in a Capital Markets, Sales/Trading, Financial Services background.
      • Exceptional ability to structure and scope complex problems which enables rapid and effective decision-making.
      • Excellent interpersonal skills and aptitude to partner with and influence a wide range of senior stakeholders, C-Suite level across the organization.
      • Agility in a fast-paced, global environment often under tight time constraints.
      • Bachelor's degree in business or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
      • 5-7 years of related experience preferred; experience in Management Consulting and/or Wholesale Banking highly preferred.
      • Minimum of 10+ years of related work experience.

      BNY Mellon assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $144,000 and $266,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
      This position is at-will, and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
