      Position Overview

      The Division of Mental Health is seeking to hire a Health Information Associate for the Madden Mental Health Center located in Hines, Illinois to prepare and maintain health information (medical) records and reports in accordance with accrediting and regulatory agencies. Monitors the daily transaction error listings. Procures Soundex inquiries via CICS (CMS Computer System) and/or HOST ON DEMAND. Processes charts of discharged patients. Files reports, forms and other related data into patient’s medical records electronically/manually. Responds to inquiries from patients, staff members, legal representatives and hospitals.

      Essential Functions

      • Prepares and maintains health information (medical) records and reports at Madden Mental Health Center in accordance with accrediting and regulatory agencies.
      • Monitors the daily transaction error listings.
      • Files reports, forms and other related data into patient’s medical records electronically/manually.
      • Responds to inquiries from patients, staff members, legal representatives and hospitals regarding patient status.
      • Attends and actively participates in mandatory training and completes all mandatory Computer Based Learning (CBL)’s.
      • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

      Minimum Qualifications

      • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to two (2) years of college and one (1) year of health related office experience, or completion of high school and three (3) years of health related office experience.

      Conditions of Employment

      • Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
      • Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
      • Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.

      Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 3:30pm, 30 minute unpaid lunch
