      About the Position: This position is with the Desmond T. Doss Health Clinic located on Schofield Barracks, HI. Serves as a Health Technician in one or more of Desmond T. Doss Health Clinics.

      This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

      This is an open continuous announcement.

      The first referral cut off will be on February 20, 2024. Additional referrals will be pulled at the request of management or upon need.

      Duties


      • Assemble needle and syringe for provider to administer medications subcutaneously.
      • Arrange health care provider schedules using a physical or electronic calendar to ensure appointment times and procedures are blocked off.
      • Utilize conflict resolution skills to calm disgruntled patients and resolve administrative complaints.
      • Utilize medical databases to document patient complaints regarding objective findings (e.g. temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration, modified mental status/behavioral assessment, height, weight, etc.).
      • Take samples (sputum or urine) and conduct simple tests like vital signs and recording results.
      • Change dressings and monitor I.V. fluids.

      Requirements


      • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
      • This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so.
      • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 3% of the time.
      • This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing.
      • Must obtain and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) training and certification from the American Heart Association or Military Training Network.
      • Position requires a successful completion of pre-placement and annual medical examinations.
      • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.

      In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.       Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Using an Electronic Health Record to check-in patients; 2) Collecting and recording patient vital signs; and 3) performing non-professional direct patient care in a hospital or health clinic setting. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

      Education: Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position, such as, Nursing.

      Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
