      Are you passionate about providing compassionate care and making a meaningful impact in patients' lives? We are looking to recruit Healthcare assistants in the specialised departments of Eye Clinic

      As a Healthcare Assistant, you will be responsible for providing the highest standard of individualised holistic patient care in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team.

      Eye clinic is a highly skilled area within the Surgical unit; The post holder will be competent in specific ophthalmic skills, assisting in treatment sessions, supporting clinics, visual acuity assessments and instilling eye drops.

      The role will be flexible across 3 sites; Doncaster Royal Infirmary, Montagu and Bassetlaw, delivering high quality care to a wide range of patients including premature babies to the elderly who have sight impaired conditions.

      What we are looking for:

      Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant

      Completion of the Care Certificate (or willing to complete within 3 months of starting)

      Relevant healthcare qualification (or evidence of equivalent experience)

      Clinical skills and competencies specific to the department (if you lack these then you'll start as a Band 2 Trainee HCA, with progression to a Band 3 HCA upon completion of training).

      Main duties of the job

      Your key responsibilities

      • Monitor patients' conditions, includingvital signsandNEWS (National Early Warning Scores).
      • Collect non-invasive specimens as appropriate.

      Perform a range of extended clinical skills in keeping with scope and range of the role.

      Chaperone patients while undergoing medical/clinical examination and various procedures.

      Perform auto refraction & focimeter readings accordingly and document accurately in patients' records.

      To complete training in a range of Ophthalmology investigations required as part of the pre clinician appointment build up including visual fields and vision tests.

      To complete the eye drop installation package and be competent in administering eye drops.

      To complete the aseptic package and be competent in assisting clinicians in the ophthalmology treatment sessions.

      To be competent in recording Schirmers test for dry eyes.

      • Grade C or above in English, Mathematics and a Science or equivalent
