      Job summary

      Longfield Medical Centre in Maldon is looking for a professional healthcare navigator to join our growing team. You must be able to work flexibly in a team on a rota basis to cover surgery opening hours and also provide holiday and sickness cover, as needed, on an overtime basis.

      The role is available on a part time basis for 30.5 hours per week, with the shift pattern below:

      • Monday: 12:30 18:30
      • Tuesday: 07.45 - 14.00
      • Wednesday: 8:00 14:00
      • Thursday: 7:45 14:00
      • Friday: 12:30 18:30

      You will be the first point of contact for all visitors to the practice and will be expected to follow the practice mission statement of always aiming to provide high quality primary care services.

      General practice is a challenging environment that requires a calm and caring approach with the ability to work under pressure. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated team player who has customer service/patient experience and offers excellent communication skills.

      Main duties of the job

      • Answering any calls to the practice.
      • Managing the patch's (online triage) request.
      • Dealing with all enquiries from patients attending the surgery.
      • Booking in patients arriving for appointments.
      • Dealing with non-clinical enquiries regarding prescriptions.
      • Filing of notes, correspondence, results etc.
      • Taking results via the telephone from hospitals.
      • Attending staff practice meetings.
      • Chaperoning for patients when necessary.
      • Using SystmOne to send internal tasks, access patient records, send internal and external messages, write patient correspondence.

      Longfield Medical Centre is a forward thinking, well established, friendly training practice with six GP partners and a list size of just under 17,000 patients. We are a semi rural training practice with a rapidly growing list size, with anticipation of growth to continue over the next few years. We are focused on providing the highest standard of care to our patients and are supported by a large clinical and administrative team.
