Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Job Description

Under the direction of the Service Manager, a Mechanic will perform service and repair procedures on truck-mounted vacuum equipment both in the shop and in the field. This position requires travel to make field service and repair calls from time to time and to attend any required training. The work related to the chassis is limited to performing routine PM inspections and requirements for fuels, fluids, and lubrication.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
• Effectively read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics
• Perform all scheduled PM inspections of chassis, vacuum body, hydraulic, electrical, air, and water systems
• Conduct all repairs within DOT or OEM standards and service to return rental equipment to 'Ready to Rent' status
• Perform and document inspections of fleet equipment
• Maintain and organize shop and storage areas ensuring proper storage of flammable items

Essential Skills

• Solid understanding of the function, operation, and maintenance of truck-mounted vacuum equipment
• Strong mechanical and hydraulic systems knowledge
• Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical data, drawings, and schematics
• Ability to administer DOT inspections

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum three (3) years of verifiable experience as a mechanic
• Experience with heavy equipment mechanics, hydraulic, trailer, or construction mechanics preferred
• Experience with truck-mounted vacuum equipment preferred

Work Environment

Service Repair shop with a day shift schedule of either 8 AM - 5 PM or 7 AM - 4 PM from Monday through Friday. There may be some call outs, but no weekend work is required.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $58240.00 - $66560.00/yr.
