What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Perform coding functions by reviewing and analyzing patient medical records and assigning diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT-4 coding systems
- Query physicians for additional documentation to ensure coding specificity
- Conduct daily reviews of EPIC work queues for coding edits and implement necessary changes
- Process infusion and injection coding for observation and treatment patients
- Collaborate with various departments to optimize reimbursement and assist with research projects
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum educational requirement: Associate's degree in Health Information or a related field
- Certification: AAPC or AHIMA certification is required
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in health information management
- Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software
- Experience in ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT-4 coding and classification systems
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information or a related field
- Experience working in a healthcare setting
- Familiarity with DRGs and APR-DRGs
- Ability to work effectively with all levels within an organization
