      Job summary

      The bSHaW service has a vacancy for a HIV clinical nurse specialist. This is an opportunity to work as part of a highly motivated MDT of nursing, medical, pharmacy and peer support workers. The HIV service is delivered from Shaw Clinic, High Wycombe and Brookside Centre, Aylesbury.

      Main duties of the job

      The post holder is responsible for the nursing leadership and delivery of the HIV service across the Trust. The post holder works in partnership with the Matron, HIV Consultants and Specialist Pharmacist to ensure the delivery of high quality, evidence based, cost effective care to people living with HIV. The post holder is a source of specialist expertise and knowledge in the Trusts HIV service.

      Education, Qualifications and Training

      Essential

      • Registered Nurse level 1
      • Education to level 6 - degree.
      • Post registration professional development in relation to HIV treatment and care - HIV STIF course, Level 6 studies or similar
      • Motivational interviewing qualification & experience
      • Qualification in Teaching and assessing eg 997/8 or City &Guilds course.
      • Qualified as Non-Medical prescriber V300 or willing to undertake training

      Desirable

      • Post registration education in integrated sexual health care - Genitourinary medicine and contraception STIF course or similar
      • Counselling qualification or experience
      • Management and leadership qualification/course or training
      • Advanced nurse practitioner qualification at level 7 - Masters

      Experience

      Essential

      • Current or very recent experience of working in an HIV service & providing direct patient care
      • Current or recent experience of working and providing direct patient care in an integrated sexual health service
      • Experience of supervising junior nursing colleagues to ensure delivery of effective patient centred HIV treatment & care service
      • Experience of implementing/updating policies and guidelines
      • Experience of working collaboratively with other teams and agencies
      • Experience of safeguarding vulnerable children and adults
      • Experience in leading staff appraisals - reviews, objective setting and PDP.
      • Experience in clinical audit and implementing relevant actions/sharing learning
      • Experience in participating in health care research and evaluating options for service improvement.
      • Experience in collaborative MDT working to achieve service improvement and change.

      Desirable

      • Where qualified current experience using V300 and evidence of post qualification education to maintain competency.
      • Experience of budget management

      • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
      • Computer skills, ability to use Microsoft word, Excel documents, Healthcare patient administration databases and national (PHE) data reporting tools such as HARS.
      • Presentation skills - able to effectively share knowledge with an individual or group using a range of resources.
