- Applies knowledge of Mortgage Process, GSE Underwriting Guidelines and Chase Credit Underwriting guidelines.
- Adheres to all Chase Fair Lending practices
- Proficiency in AUS and manual underwriting processes
- Reviews all loan underwriting documentation to ensure compliance with state guidelines and Chase requirements
- Analyzes financial information including calculation of income, debt ratios and verification of assets
- Ensures loan decisions meet all program and product specifications
- Identifies and addresses red flags found in the file documentation.
- Identifies documentation deficiencies within review and communicates findings with clarity
- Displays Best in Class Customer Service as measured by customer surveys and feedback.
- Effectively communicate using strong verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent teamwork with internal employees and external customers
- Demonstrates the ability to successfully function in a fully virtual workspace
- Achieves and exceeds work goals for productivity, quality and turnaround time
- Pass all audits and exams.
- Keeps up to date on all credit policy changes that impact underwriting
- Applies relevant technical and computer expertise
- Minimum of 5 years experience as a residential mortgage underwriter
- Minimum of 3 years of Non Agency underwriting experience
- Proficiency with complex personal and business financial analysis to include strong financial analytics experience focusing on cash flow, balance sheets and corporate tax returns
- Demonstrated expertise of GSE lending guidelines
- Prior experience in manual underwriting
- Proven analytical and decision making skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- College degree preferred
The qualified candidate will underwrite complex Non Agency and Agency loans from our Correspondent Lenders in accordance with Chase, State and Federal guidelines and restrictions. As an Underwriter IlI, you will possess a working knowledge of residential mortgage underwriting guidelines including both Agency and Non Agency. The individual will be responsible for the analysis of ability to repay capacity, capital/assets, character, collateral and property condition, while adhering to Chase credit policies and agency guidelines. Underwriters support and uphold fair lending practices of JPMorgan Chase, and are responsible for productivity targets ensuring the highest quality and level of customer satisfaction.
