What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Accurately code and abstract complex outpatient medical records using ICD-10-CM and CPT coding systems
- Participate in continuing education to maintain coding credentials and improve job performance
- Assist in the end-of-month reconciliation processes and verify medical necessity
- Collaborate with Patient Financial Services to ensure timely and accurate coding and billing
- Enter abstracted data into the Affinity system and monitor coding queues for status updates

What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum of three (3) years of current ambulatory procedure coding experience in an acute care setting or ambulatory surgery center
- Proficient in ICD-10-CM and CPT coding principles, with thorough knowledge of Official Coding Guidelines
- Strong command of medical terminology, human anatomy, and disease processes
- Must possess a coding credential or be eligible for one, with achievement required within six months of hire
- Exceptional communication and customer relations skills, with the ability to read and write in English

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Additional certifications in coding such as Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Professional Coder Hospital (CPC-H)
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Familiarity with charge capture processes and committees
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
