      What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
      - Accurately code inpatient conditions and procedures using ICD guidelines and MS-DRG assignments
      - Review medical record documentation to identify and assign relevant codes
      - Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists on documentation concerns
      - Assist in preparing responses to DRG validation requests and third-party payer inquiries
      - Maintain compliance with HIPAA security standards while working with hospital information systems

      What is Required (Qualifications):
      - Minimum educational requirement: AHIMA or AAPC approved Medical Coding Diploma or Health Information Management Degree
      - Minimum of three years of progressive inpatient coding experience in an acute care facility
      - Active credential of Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
      - Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and coding guidelines
      - Advanced problem-solving skills and attention to detail

      How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
      - Experience with electronic health record systems
      - Academic or level I or II trauma experience
      - AAPC credential with a preference for CIC (Certified Inpatient Coder)
