      What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
      - Accurately code inpatient conditions and procedures using ICD guidelines and UHDDS
      - Assign appropriate MS-DRG or APR-DRG for complex, multi-specialty inpatient services
      - Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists to address documentation concerns
      - Prepare responses to DRG validation requests and third-party payer inquiries related to coding
      - Maintain knowledge of medical terminology and coding standards to ensure compliance

      What is Required (Qualifications):
      - Minimum Required: AHIMA or AAPC approved Medical Coding Diploma or Health Information Management Degree
      - Minimum Required: Three years of progressive inpatient coding experience in an acute care facility
      - Active certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), RHIT, or RHIA required at the time of hire
      - Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
      - Strong written and verbal communication skills

      How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
      - Experience with electronic health record systems
      - Academic or level I or II trauma experience is a plus
      - AAPC credential preference for CIC (Certified Inpatient Coder)
