      Job Description:

      POSITION SUMMARY

      While maintaining the utmost awareness of customer needs and providing superior customer service, the Hospital Scheduler performs all functions related to the scheduling, canceling, and re-scheduling of all Diagnostic Imaging, Cardiac, and Pulmonary exams and procedures. Coordinates exam resources and accommodates requests for urgent exams with appropriate leads, technical staff, and radiologists as needed.

      POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

      Education/Licensure/Certification:

      • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

      • Basic Medical Terminology required, or course completion within first year.

      Knowledge/Experience:

      • Knowledge of Coordination of Benefits, IPA’s, HMO, PPO, Authorizations including Medi-Cal TAR’s, Medi-Cal eligibility, Medicare Advance Beneficiary Notices, and Medicare Secondary Payer screening required.

      • Two years of medical office referral, scheduling and/or billing experience required.

      • One year of medical imaging scheduling preferred.

      • Knowledge of computerized scheduling programs preferred.

      • Knowledge of how health care facilities and providers function and the differences in urgency levels of patient acuity preferred.

      Skills:

      • Organizational and multi-tasking skills.

      • Intermediate computer skills to include keyboarding, mouse movement, data entry and scheduling programs.

      • Verbal/written communication skills for frequent and challenging contact with physicians, employees, patients, and patient families; requires patience and compassion.

      • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize tasks in order to complete assignments within the time allotted and maintain standard workflow.

      • Ability to work with others in a flexible and cooperative manner.

      • Ability to maintain composure during challenging interpersonal interactions.

      • Active listening skills; including interpersonal skills and telephone communication.

      • Applies moderate mental application and concentration to handle multiple procedures and interruptions throughout the day.
