- Collaborate with managers to correctly identify level of work needed and appropriately develop and map positions to form the basis for successful recruitment. Create job requisitions based on the approved job descriptions.
- Advise hiring managers on effective and creative recruiting practices.
- Provide training and guidance to hiring managers and search committees to ensure recruitment and hiring practices comply with federal law, University guidelines and policies.
- Utilizes Applicant Tracking Systems and recruiting tools (such as Talent and Handshake) to effectively attract talent within all employment categories, from faculty to staff and students. Efficiently advise on and manage the logistics of the hiring process.
- Develop and maintain onboarding program to promote engagement and retention.
- Provide direction and guidance to management to ensure compensation aligns with the University Compensation Guidelines and policies.
- Work with unit leaders and business officers regarding all requests related to the University Salary Architecture including mapping positions, assessing appropriateness of pay for new hires, career progressions, promotions, merit increases, additional duties, and supplemental pay.
- Foster effective working relationships with leaders, faculty, staff and students.
- Be the first point of contact for employees to bring concerns. Coordinate with Division of HR@UAHS regarding Employee Relations issues.
- Work with supervisors and employees to support productive conversations and resolution to concerns.
- Consult with supervisors on Career Conversations and employee development.
- Respond to questions on policies or procedures. Be familiar with additional resources and bring in experts as needed.
- Advise and manage various types of leaves including FML, Paid Parental and resources available through UA Disability Resources Center.
- In coordination with the Director implement and coordinate University-wide initiatives such as the annual salary increase program, and salary changes as a result compensation structure changes based on market updates. Analyze the impact of these programs and translate these programs to center level specifications.
- Process personnel transactions such as hiring, promotion, raise, reclassification's, and termination etc., with input from the responsible managers and leadership
- Communicate regularly with Finance Office staff to ensure appropriate funding source identified when setting up new hire position or making related changes.
- Coordinate the UACC bi‐weekly time reporting, initiate payment requests as necessary.
- Maintain employee records: organize scanning, filing, and retention of personnel documents in accordance with federal and institutional guidelines.
- Work with Office of International Faculty Scholars regarding visa administration and compliance.
- Advise on best practices and ensure compliance regarding administration of HR principles, documentation and record keeping.
- Participate in leadership meetings to advise on HR policies, procedures and best practices.
- Leverage systems and tools including UAccess Analytics and Talent to generate reports and analyze HR metrics such as hiring and turnover. Develop systems to streamline HR services in support of center leaders.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of and skill in applying the principles, practices and procedures of HR administration in the areas of recruitment and employment, compensation and classification, employee relations, and employee development.
- Knowledge of and skill in interpreting and applying state and federal statutes and regulations related to HR.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion in interactions.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and to collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
- Five (5) years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
