      The Office of Self Sufficiency, which is part of the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS), is looking for a talented individual to serve as a Human Services Specialists 1. In this role you will aid individuals and families seeking services for our agency programs and resources. The candidate will work in Our District 16 office located in Beaverton, Oregon at NE Greenbrier Pkwy | Unit C as their primary work location.

      What you need to qualify

      • Two years of experience either interviewing to obtain personal or technical information or substantial people contact. This experience must have involved a high volume of paperwork (e.g., assuring information on forms is complete and accurate, completing necessary documents, etc.).
      • College-level courses may be substituted for the experience on a year-for-year basis.

      Essential attributes

      • Experience gathering information from applicants/recipients for a program/service.
      • Experience explaining rules, regulations, and procedures for a program/service.
      • Knowledgeable and experienced in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet, search engines and Email.
      • Experience processing, entering and/or verifying detailed data.
      • Experience as front desk receptionist.

      Your duties at a glance

      As an Operations Support Specialist, you will:

      • Greet and assist Oregonians in person, by phone or online to apply for agency administered programs such as medical benefits, cash for families (TANF), Domestic Violence services, food benefits (SNAP), childcare assistance (ERDC), long term care services, etc.
      • Assist Oregonians by responding timely to case status or other inquiries and provide information on how to access other community resources.
      • Assisting Oregonians through a trauma informed lens.

      Working conditions

      • Work Schedule is Monday - Friday 8AM- 5PM.
      • All work will be performed in the office setting.
      • You will be working with the public and may interact with a wide range of people including some who have experienced trauma and may exhibit challenges in controlling their emotions.
      • You may experience stressful situations that may require quick decision-making.
      • You will experience changing priorities and procedures.
