- At the direction of the PMO Manager, facilitate the complete lifecycle of assigned projects while ensuring compliance with established agency project management standards and procedures.
- Develop detailed project plans, including identification of project needs, definition of tasks and milestones, based on the approved project scope, budget, and resources.
- Track project tasks, milestones, and phases to ensure the project is on schedule. Take corrective actions if a project begins to fall behind schedule.
- Be accountable for on-time completion and delivery of all deliverables within the project scope, and ensuring all deliverables align with the intended business outcomes.
- Be responsible for complying with change management procedures and managing changes for all aspects of assigned projects.
- Proactively identify and communicate project risks and issues, develop mitigation strategies and track to closure.
- Prepare status reports for each assigned project on a weekly basis for project team, project sponsor(s), stakeholder, team leads, and senior leadership.
- Effectively communicate and work with project team, external partners/vendors, and other State agencies as necessary to accomplish project objectives.
- Present to division (business), IT, and senior leadership as needed regarding project status, or to escalate and mitigate project issues, risks, or challenges.
- Build and maintain relationships with project teams, key stakeholders, and project sponsors.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all project-related issues and resolution of issues.
Commerce is currently operating under a hybrid schedule that may incorporate both teleworking and in-person office hours. Employees must be able to report to the office when requested by management &/or for their initial job training.
The Department of Commerce Information Technology section is hiring for an IT Project Manager 1. The IT Project Manager 1 will:
3 yrs. exp. in project management (i.e., management & development of project/program requirements, design, development, testing/pilot, training & full scale implementation), with experience to be commensurate with project/program &/or position description on file (e.g., specific human service program area, management information sciences, fiscal); 12 mos. exp. in budgeting & calculating cost projections of program/projects.
-Or Successful completion of 2 yrs. post-secondary education majoring in business administration, public administration, computer science/information technology, social science, or health, with major being commensurate with project to be assigned; 12 mos. exp. in budgeting & calculating cost projections of program/projects.
-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
