      Director – International Developed Markets Medical Affairs Excellence Solutions Partner (IDM MAESP)

      Role Description
      The Director, IDM MAESP is a member of the IDM Medical Affairs Solutions team and of the Global Medical Excellence & Innovation group (GME&I). The MAESP is specifically aligned with regional Medical Affairs (MA) Cluster Leads, cluster-specific Country Medical Directors (CMDs) and cross-functional business partners to drive the implementation of IDM Strategic Priorities. The MAESP directly influences the strategic development and execution of GME&I priorities for IDM Medical Affairs ensuring alignment with all IDM Medical Affairs priorities. The MAESP also establishes forward thinking strategies across the breadth of IDM countries, taking account of evolving needs and unique challenges / requirements across the region.

      The IDM MAESP:

      • Drives and ensures process optimization and operational efficiency within IDM Medical Affairs, leads operational discipline during all phases of medical projects, and ensures the execution of GME&I / IDM CMAO LT strategy.
      • Provides strategic and program management for key activities and deliverables, drives solutions to complex, ambiguous problems in a collaborative environment, and manages change that has a substantial impact on the business.
      • Leads and/or partners on the development and management of platfo rms necessary to execute plans, ensure repeatable quali ty processes and measure/track key perfo rman ce in dicat ors.
      • Sets objectives for, and manages, multiple projects / ongoing work activities of high complexity.
      • Enhances cross-functional medical excellence collaboration and supports / accelerates medical innovation and implementation across teams.

      Organisational Relationships:

      • The MAESP reports to the IDM Medical Affairs Solutions Partner.
      • Partners with assigned IDM MA Cluster Leads and Cluster-specific CMDs.
      • Collaborates with GME&I, the IDM Medical Operations & Strategy Implementation Lead, IDM Category teams, CMDs & Medical Quality Governance.
      • Position is a virtual role based anywhere in Europe.
      • Resources Managed (budget and FTEs):
      • No current direct line management, supervision of project resources may be required.

      Primary Responsibilities include:

      • Partners with IDM MA Cluster leads and GME&I Leadership to drive management and tracking progress against goals, deliverables and metrics and provide regular updates.
      • Partners with IDM Medical Operations & Strategy Implementation Lead to plan and develop efficient processes to support critical routine business activities (Op plan, launch planning, quality systems).
      • Leads and/or participates in cross-functional, multi-regional and inter-disciplinary teams and projects, continuous improvement efforts, and navigates complexity, change, conflict, and challenges.
      • Drives alignment with country and global stakeholders to ensure transparency, adherence to repeatable quality processes and proactive best practice sharing.
      • Where necessary, coaches / provides direct guidance and proactively shares expertise with IDM country teams.
      • Leads the creation of innovative medical processes to support the development and execution of Medical Affairs strategies, working with key stakeholders.
      • Ensures consistency in overarching processes and systems in the region, where appropriate, and partners with key colleagues in other functional areas to ensure process alignment, as well as efficiency in time and budget.
      • Facilitates risk assessments for IDM Medical Affairs projects where appropriate.

      Required Experience, Qualifications & Training:

      • Education: Bachelor’s degree in science is a minimal requirement; advanced degree (MSc, MBA, PhD) strongly preferred.
      • A minimum of ten years in the pharmaceutical industry depending on the positions held and evidence of leadership and organization effectiveness.
      • Excellent program management skills and experience managing large and complex budgets.
      • Experience in working in Medical Affairs organization preferred.
      • Demonstrated success in communicating and influencing at all levels in a matrix-based organization, without authority.
      • Must be independent, proactive, self-motivated with strong organizational skills and possess the ability to manage priorities, handle multiple tasks with frequent tight deadlines.
      • Proven ability to facilitate open discussion and debate among key stakeholders and build relationships through partnering, anticipating needs, fulfilling expectations.
      • Strong strategic thinking skills and ability to lead strategic development.
      • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; fluent and able to influence others in spoken and written English.
      • Flexibility to travel.
