      Each year, Volvo Cars welcome students as Summer Interns to our site. As a Summer Intern at Volvo Cars you can work in production, in one of our storages or at the office. Spending a few weeks in our team is a great way for you to get an insight to what life at Volvo Cars can be like and gives you a basic understanding of our operations. It also provides you with a strong network in our organization, which can be of value in your future career. The number of Summer intern positions and work areas varies from year to year.

      Program Summary :

      About the program:

      The Student Internship Program at Volvo Cars in Charleston is designed to introduce students to the fast paced, high tech, and ever changing industry of automotive manufacturing. In this program students will receive direct hands on learning experiences and a deeper understanding of lean principles and lean manufacturing processes.

      We offer paid full-time work and a safe learning environment, for our interns to practice applying the knowledge gained in the classroom in a professional environment.

      The factory in South Carolina is currently responsible for assembling the Volvo S60, mid-sized sedan. The American-built S60s are exported around the world through the Port of Charleston. Our plant employs nearly 1300 employees and sits on 1,600 acres of land in Ridgeville South Carolina, just a short drive from Charleston.

      Department Summary :

      Indirect Procurement (IDP) is a global organisation with highly skilled and motivated employees located in the USA, Sweden, Belgium, China, Malaysia, and India. We are responsible for the procurement of Non-Production Material such as: Professional Services, Information Technology, Marketing, Facilities Management, Logistics, and Machinery & Tooling within Volvo Car Group. We are responsible for development of supplier collaboration together with internal stakeholders in order to reach Volvo Cars' cost, quality and environmental requirements. We are a diverse team of 17 working in a dynamic environment where we transform the supply chain at Volvo Cars USA LLC.

      *The internship will start in June 3rd and last approximately 8-10 weeks.
