      What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
      - Serve as the expert on Maine reptiles, amphibians, and select inland invertebrates
      - Conduct field surveys and monitor population status of priority species
      - Provide technical assistance to regional biologists and external organizations
      - Write technical reports, grant proposals, and develop species planning and recovery measures
      - Represent the Department at state, regional, and national meetings

      What is Required (Qualifications):
      - Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Fisheries or Wildlife Management, or a related field
      - Two (2) years of progressively responsible laboratory or field research and/or management experience
      - Strong scientific and field knowledge of Maine's reptiles and amphibians
      - Proven professional written communication skills
      - Equivalent experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis

      How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
      - Post-graduate degree in Conservation Biology, Wildlife Ecology, Herpetology, or a related discipline
      - Experience in writing technical reports, peer-reviewed manuscripts, grant proposals, and species management plans
