      Position Overview

      City Year Dallas Impact Director
      The Impact Director oversees the implementation of City Year’s Whole School Whole Child (WSWC) model through the supervision, coaching, and development of Impact Managers (IMs) who lead teams of 8-10 AmeriCorps Members (ACMs) during their 10-month term of service at Dallas Independent School District schools. This includes providing them with the support, resources, and tools necessary for the Impact Department to deliver high-quality services that support students in attendance, social emotional learning, and academic performance in math and literacy. The Impact Director collaborates closely with the Learning and Analytics Director and the Community Engagement Director to ensure alignment of operating goals, school service, ACM learning and development, and ACM experience. Additionally, the Impact Director will collaborate with the Managing Director of Impact on IM learning and development. A member of the Impact Department and reporting directly to the Managing Director of Impact, the Impact Director is responsible for the overall management of the day-to-day programmatic operations of City Year teams in schools and the achievement of service outcomes.

      Job Description

      Responsibilities
      Impact Manager and AmeriCorps Member Experience Delivery

      • Supervise, coach, and develop IMs to lead teams of ACMs (ages 18-25) to achieve quantitative and qualitative student growth and reach their leadership development potential

      • Support IM and ACM learning and professional development through individual and group coaching and by modeling outstanding professionalism, strong application of the City Year values, and effective leadership;

      • Implement and lead IMs through City Year’s performance management process, including bi-weekly leadership development coaching sessions and performance reviews; use performance-management process to coach team members to meet individual development and performance goals

      • In collaboration with the Managing Director of Impact and the Learning and Analytics Director, design and implement an IM learning and development calendar and curriculum that reflects, mirrors, and builds on the ACM learning and development calendar and curriculum

      • In collaboration with the Managing Director of Impact, lead Impact Department on sustaining a strong sense of CY culture and values, consistently using City Year culture tools; make meaning of City Year culture and foster strong personal connections to the deeper meaning of staff/corps work

      Service Delivery

      • Collaborate with Managing Director of Impact to oversee the development and implementation of program goals, ACM deployment, and Impact staffing and hiring plans

      • Support the development of IMs and ACMs in best practices in pedagogy and in collaboration with Impact Leadership team, utilize observation and coaching to build skill and accountability

      • Ensure Impact team has necessary tools and resources to build capability in the following areas: implementation of Whole School, Whole Child (WSWC) services, observation and coaching practice, and student p rogress monitoring

      • Implement local process to establish school-safety plans that ensure all student and ACM safety protocols are in place and consistently practiced; with Impact team and site leadership, manage resolution of student/corps-safety issues

      • Support IMs as they develop and manage partnerships with school administration, teachers, and staff to ensure the necessary conditions and resources are in place for ACMs to implement the WSWC model

      • Ensure and troubleshoot implementation of school-based assessments necessary for student progress monitoring and end-of-year student performance reports

      • Provide both spot and scheduled observation and coaching to ACMs, as needed, to ensure model fidelity and to improve student interventions

      • In collaboration with the Learning and Evaluation Director, support IMs as they collect, monitor, and analyze student and s chool-level data, from both school and City Year electronic systems, to identify trends and improve whole-school, whole-class, small-group and one-on-one support

      • In collaboration with the Learning and Evaluation Director, support ACM learning and development by designing and facilitating trainings in both office- and school-based settings

      • Support relevant staff in connecting to external partners and in implementing external initiatives, such as service projects and community events and initiatives

      • Implement local process to establish school-safety plans to ensure all student and ACM safety protocols are in place and consistently practiced; with Impact team and site leadership, manage resolution of student/corps-safety issues

      Service Partner Management

      • Serve as a representative of City Year at each IM’s assigned Dallas Independent School District school, supporting IMs in collaborating with stakeholders to effectively align and balance school, City Year, and team needs, priorities, and goals

      • Coach IMs to build and cultivate strong partnerships with teachers, administrators, school officials, and other decision-makers and stakeholders within the assigned Dallas Independent School District school

      • In collaboration with the Managing Director of Impact, implement City Year’s annual school partner management process, including creating a mutually beneficial Statement of Partnership for each fiscal year

      • In collaboration with IMs, engage schools directly via regular communication and monitoring of student progress

      • Manage schoolhouse challenges that are escalated

      • Manage CY brand with education stakeholders

      • Adapt the model where necessary to meet changing conditions and needs

      Organizational Initiatives

      • Serve on the Impact Leadership Team, which works to advance the site’s vision and goals, increase the quality of collaboration and alignment between departments, and critically examine the direction of the organization and implement widespread policy changes

      • Collaborate closely with the Learning and Evaluation Director to assess progress toward program goals

      • Advance the site’s vision and goals, increasing the quality of collaboration and alignment between departments and with the national service team, and critically examine the direction of the organization and implement widespread policy changes

      • Support the Development Department through school- and site-specific corporate and external partner engagement, such as school visitor programs, corporate programming for ACMs and students, and school-based corporate volunteer service projects

      • Support the Recruitment and Admissions Department by interviewing prospective ACMs, representing City Year at local career fairs, and hosting prospective ACM school visits

      • Identify, participate in, and support other organizational initiatives and projects, as needed.

      Foundational Skills and Competencies

      • Ability to build positive, strong, and mutually beneficial relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including ACMs, colleagues and peers, school partners (administration, teachers, support staff, etc.), and external partners utilizing emotional intelligence, social awareness, and cultural competency

      • Ability to successfully coach, influence, negotiate, and implement choice architecture across all relationships

      • Ability to operationalize City Year’s mission and vision by breaking down goals, initiatives, and projects into manageable steps and objectives for pertinent stakeholders

      • Ability to quickly develop fluency in City Year’s service model and culture

      Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

      • Experience in education, learning, or training-related position required

      • Experience in managing, coaching, and developing teams toward achieving results required

      • Proven success building sustainable partnerships and positive working relationships with others

      • Exceptional public speaking and presentation skills with the demonstrated ability to communicate a vision and inspire others

      • Proven success operating in ambiguous and changing environments

      • Familiarity with effectively handling multiple priorities, organizing workload and meeting deadlines

      • Passion for serving the students and schools in Dallas

      • Fluency in educational standards and metrics is required as well as ability to direct improvements to instructional practice using data

      • Content expertise in English Language Arts, math, or behavior management required

      • Experience working with K-12 population and experience supporting K-12 classrooms, schools, or similar learning environment required City Year and AmeriCorps alumni and Returned Peace Corps Volunteers are encouraged to apply

      Compensation and Benefits

      • City Year offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience in a similar position. Starting salary range for this position is $60,000-$70,000, depending on qualifications and internal equity.
