      As the IVIVT Laboratory Science Biology Apprentice you will learn how to operate the systems and equipment that generates data to aid the production of life improving pharmaceutical products for our patients, all whilst actively studying towards your BSc (Hons) in Bioscience with Manchester Metropolitan University.       We are looking for motivated individuals with a willingness and enthusiasm to learn, who are excited to join the Research & Development function supporting the associated in vivo in vitro (living organisms) scientific processes required to develop medicines such as the therapeutic treatments across our vaccines, specialty medicines and general medicines portfolio focusing on microscopy and mass spectrometry techniques.

      Education required:

      • GCSE Mathematics and English Language (grade A*-C / 9-4) or equivalent

      • Must have/ be predicted 104 UCAS points at A-level (grades BCC), with one being Biology or an equivalent scientific discipline.

      Language requirement: Written and spoken fluency in English

      Duration: 4 years

      Location: Stevenage. You must live within a 60-minute commute of the site location on the day you start your apprenticeship as you are expected to be on site daily

      What will you do?

      • Work with teams of excellent multi-disciplined scientists both internally and externally to gain insights into the biology based in vivo in vitro scientific research critical to the drug discovery and development process.

      • Learn and apply specialist knowledge and scientific understanding to carry out a range of technical and scientific in vivo activities in an R&D laboratory environment such as, cell culture aseptic techniques, genetic cell engineering, microscopy techniques and mass spectrometry.

      • Use a range of cutting-edge technologies and approaches to help answer key questions throughout the different phases of drug discovery and development.

      • Operate and maintain specialist laboratory equipment’s to perform analytical tests as part of the drug development processes.

      • Develop, evaluate, and interpret reports of experimental data using analytical tools to enable decision making, propose solutions and drive improvements.

      • Gain in-depth and cross-sectional insights across the Research and Development function.
