Overview RTI International seeks a prospect for the Indigenous Health Analyst Internship in the Community Health & Implementation Research Program within the Social, Statistical, & Environmental Sciences business unit.
This internship is a contract position. The employment contract is administered by Greene Resources Powered by Array, RTI's supplemental staffing partner.
The Zero Suicide Initiative Coordinating Center (ZSICC) team conducts an annual evaluation for the Indian Health Service and provides ongoing technical assistance to 2021 cohort Zero Suicide Initiative (ZSI) grantees. The ZSICC project is in its second year and preparing for a hybrid meeting in February 2025 that will bring all eight ZSI grantees together for peer-sharing, technical assistance, and learning.
Indigenous Health Analyst Intern will help the team coordinate the hybrid meeting in February 2025 which includes assistance with presenter organization, coordination, and managing meeting logistics. The internship will also include helping to analyze the annual progress report data provided by ZSI grantees each year. Analyses will include basic qualitative content analysis and other basic quantitative analyses, such as using Excel to conduct averages and sums. Findings from these analyses will be documented and included in the ZSICC Year 2 Evaluation Report.
Learning Objectives: - Best practices in coordinating and holding a meeting that is both in-person and virtual for grantees that work with Native American communities.
- How to coordinate webinars with behavioral health experts particularly in the realm of Indigenous suicide prevention from across the US.
- Extend or create new skills related to qualitative data analyses and reporting.
- Extend or create new skills related to the use of R, an open-source statistical analysis software.
Responsibilities - Assisting with hybrid meeting planning and coordination.
- Assisting in the qualitative and quantitative analyses of the annual progress report data provided by ZSI grantees.
- Writing up findings from the annual progress report for inclusion in the Year 2 Evaluation Report.

Additional Information This internship is remote. The position is tentatively scheduled to start late January 2025 and end June 2025. The internship requires a minimum commitment of 10-15 hours per week. Hours are flexible during business hours, Monday through Friday.
Qualifications Required Qualifications - Currently enrolled undergraduate (junior or senior) or graduate student, who is studying one of the following fields: public health, psychology, sociology, public policy, Indigenous health and research.
- Demonstrated knowledge of or familiarity with quantitative research methodologies.
- Demonstrated knowledge of or familiarity with qualitative research methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications - Demonstrated knowledge of Indigenous health, Tribal data sovereignty, or working with Tribal organizations or entities.
- Experience with R or other statistical programming applications.
- Experience with collaborating or engaging with Indigenous entities. Passionate about strengthening Indigenous health systems.
