      Position Summary

      The INFECTION CONTROL PRACTITIONER II, CONSTRUCTION is an integral member of the Infection Prevention and Control Department. The Construction Infection Control Team works in the capacity of a consultant to meet the needs of an evolving infection and prevention practice as it relates to health care facility renovation, construction and maintenance.

      Duties

      • Architectural drawing review (blue prints); hoarding plan review
      • hoarding inspections; Activity Permit approvals; attendance at construction meetings
      • performing surveillance activities as they pertain to construction related infections
      • acting as a resource for internal and external clients (i.e. other hospitals, government agencies, etc.)
      • providing consultation services on an on-call basis including occasional evening and weekend on-call
      • providing education and training to internal and external personnel
      • participating in research activities that will generate funds and advance the practice of Infection Control at UHN
      • performing continuous Quality Improvement responsibilities
      • participating in professional development and education activities/programs to ensure excellence in the provision of Infection Prevention and Control services at multiple sites across the integrated health care delivery spectrum
      • performing cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as required.
