      The Role

      As we continue to grow, we are seeking an Information Security Engineer focused on the operation and evolution of technical security controls firmwide. This role is a hands-on position which delivers cyber security expertise on projects as well as lifecycle management activities. Also, this resource is an influencer, focusing on how best to implement and operationalize information security best practices related to architecture and design within these areas. This will require a strong understanding of application security best practices, fundamental information security principles, QuidelOrtho IT architecture and systems offerings to QuidelOrtho from third-party vendors. This position is ideally suited to a self-motivated, team-player capable of operating with minimal levels of supervision.

      The Responsibilities

      • Providing technical security expertise across QuidelOrtho’s IT infrastructure.

      • Translating security-related system & software architecture into design and implementation, leveraging Ortho Information Security policies, standards, and guidelines.

      • Design and implement consistent, effective, and efficient information security-related controls QuidelOrtho’s IT infrastructure.

      • Work closely with various IT and business teams to troubleshoot issues and formulate appropriate solutions.

      • Participates as a subject matter expert connecting with customers and commercial staff to help answer cyber-related questions supporting existing and new business opportunities.

      • Engage with projects and one-off requests for security engineering and solution architecting.

      • Investigate, document, and report on information security issues and emerging trends. Remain current, identify new functionality to meet business needs and foster knowledge sharing.

      • Integrate and share information with other analysts and teams.

      • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

      The Individual

      Required Skills:

      • Bachelor’s Degree required, with a preference in Computer Science, Business, or related discipline.

      • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with emphasis on IT technical security control systems support of enterprise, medical device security, manufacturing or equivalent.

      • Experience with networks, security assessments, architecture and solution engineering preferred.

      • Security certifications such as Security+, CISA, CISSP, CISM, CRISC preferred but not required.

      Preferred Skills:

      • Possesses and displays excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey information to internal and external customers in a clear, focused, and concise manner.

      • Ability to work with all levels of the organization, both technical and non-technical.

      • Independent thinking, willingness to "step outside the box" and take reasonable, calculated risks.

      • Strong collaboration skills and a willingness to work as a team to solve problems and incorporate input from various sources.

      • A plus to have technical knowledge in information security in combination of the following areas: Networking technology, Windows/Linux servers, Manufacturing environment, Windows 10, Office 365/Azure, AWS or Azure Cloud, Web applications like Apache or Tomcat, and Virtual servers

      • High level of personal integrity, ability to professionally handle confidential matters, and reflect appropriate level of judgment and maturity is required.

      • High degree of initiative, dependability, and ability to work with little supervision is required.

      • A passion for technology, security and working with people.

      The Work Environment

      No strenuous physical activity, though occasional light lifting of files and related materials is required. 30% of time in meetings, working with team, or talking on the phone, 70% of the time at the desk on computer, doing analytical work. Minimal travel required.

      Salary Transparency

      The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $68,000 to $116,000 and is bonus eligible. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time), and paid Holidays. All benefits are non-contractual, and QuidelOrtho may amend, terminate, or enhance the benefits provided, as it deems appropriate.
