Are you a college student who loves technology? Do you enjoy challenges and learning new skills? If so, you are encouraged to apply for a summer internship with Prince William County’s Department of Information Technology (DoIT).
We have two paid internship positions for undergraduate students for the summer of 2024. These internships will be provided to undergraduate college students in the furtherance of their education. Students applying for an internship are encouraged to have an interest in computer science, engineering, cyber security, scripting and programming, networking and security, systems and services, data management, and business of IT, but other applicants may be considered based on their application or experience.
About the Internship
Interns will be supporting the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) during the busy summer season and will work as part of the DoIT Parks team. They will assist with installing and troubleshooting software and hardware at all Park sites. The primary responsibility of this position is to oversee DPR's Point of Sale devices, primarily located at the water parks and Prince William community pools, necessitating access to a car for consistent travel between sites to provide technical support to DPR employees. The preferred candidate should have advanced proficiency in Windows 10/11, IOS/Android platforms, accompanied by a strong background in customer service and adept multitasking skills. Familiarity with DPR's main application, "RecTrac," would be highly beneficial. The main work location will be at George Hellwig Memorial Park, specifically at the Admin Building.
Length of Internship
Internships will generally start in late April and end in early September. Exact dates will be agreed on at the time of hire.
Other Information
Interns are paid hourly at a rate of $18/hour, depending on experience. The schedule entails 15-20 hours per week, with shifts spanning 4 to 5 hours. Assignments may involve work either in the office or in the field.
Interns are required to work every Saturday and Sunday, as well as Holidays.
