Innovation Strategy and Development: Collaborate with stakeholders to identify, evaluate, and develop innovative healthcare solutions. Apply design thinking methodologies to create disruptive products.
User Research and Insights: Conduct user research, analyze findings, and develop user personas to inform product development.
Design and Prototyping: Create wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs to bring product concepts to life. Conduct usability testing and iterate on designs based on feedback.
Team Collaboration and Leadership: Mentor and coach teams on innovation methodologies and user research. Contribute to team building and project management.
Communication and Presentation: Develop compelling presentations and pitches to communicate product vision and value proposition.

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college in design and / or user experience
5+ years of professional level work experience demonstrating design thinking and creating presentations that tell a compelling story
While this position offers some flexibility in work location, candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance to La Crosse, WI due to on site needs. Additionally, candidates must reside in WI, MN, or IA at the time of hire.

Job Description:
Gundersen Health System has made a commitment to be a leader in healthcare innovation. The Innovation Designer/Storyteller applies design thinking methods in the service of conceiving, validating, and building disruptive products. Helps teams conceive, test, and build new disruptive products by combining work disciplines including user research, design, usability, and design thinking. Conducts customer interviews, synthesizes findings, visualizes the customer journey, and designs high-level presentations and pitch decks that tell bold and compelling stories.
The Innovation Designer/Storyteller owns and leads the process that brings the idea/venture to life to others in a compelling story.
Major Responsibilities
1. Collaborates with clinicians, leaders, and others within GHS to identify innovative ideas for improving healthcare. Assists in innovation evaluations and track progress of continued research and/or development activities related to innovation projects.
2. Applies design thinking methods in the service of conceiving, validating, and building disruptive products
3. Conducts interviews and note-taking, deriving insight, and clearly presents findings.
4. Responsible for master script creation, scenario development, qualitative test strategy, and persona development.
5. Understands information architecture, methods for organizing complex and diverse types of content, and methods for visualizing the customer context, customer journeys, etc.
6. Wireframes and prototypes at various levels of fidelity.
7. Brings a good understanding of visual hierarchy, grid systems, and typography.
8. Designs compelling presentations and pitches decks that tell stories, communicating boldly and clearly.
9. Assists in rapid research and testing strategies for intra/entrepreneurial teams.
10. Coaches teams on tactics and best practices for conducting effective user research.
11. Partners with Innovation Customer/Product Development Partner to create testing stimuli in various degrees of fidelity.
12. Assists with storyboards.
13. Works with Innovation Customer/Product Development Partner on low-to-high resolution designs for testing.
14. Creates multiple prototypes.
15. Participates in recruiting, interviewing, and vetting potential entrepreneurial team members.
16. Assists to proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve situations that might derail successful realization of new venture launches or idea integration into Gundersen.
17. Advances internal and external promotion for incubation / acceleration.
18. Prepares and presents regular updates.
19. Adheres to regular and predictable attendance.
20. Performs other job-related responsibilities as requested.
Education and Learning:
REQUIRED
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college in design and / or user experience
Work Experience:
REQUIRED
5+ years of professional level work experience demonstrating design thinking and creating presentations that tell a compelling story
DESIRED
Experience facilitating
Experience in a startup and / or venturing (either internal and / or external venture development)
