ZYGO’s metrology instruments measure absolute position, displacement, surface shape, texture, thin films, and many more characteristics of advanced products. Our metrology business leverages ZYGO’s expertise in optical engineering, software design, visualization, high performance computing to deliver a diverse set of applications for consumer products, semiconductor manufacturing, precision machining and optical manufacturing.

You will:

• Innovate and stimulate innovation

• Develop new technologies to provide Zygo with competitive advantage

• Demonstrate theoretically and experimentally the feasibility of new ideas

• Pursue challenging technical problems

• Propose and lead projects within the framework of the company’s market-focused solution development process

• Keep up to date on the latest enabling technologies, including sensors, light sources, modulators, actuators, software tools, etc.

Excellent fit:

• PhD in Physics or Engineering

• Experience with interferometry, metrology, optics fabrication, as well as optical, software, mechanical, electrical, systems and precision engineering

• 5+ years experience in optics, physics, or related fields including formal education experience

• Passion for invention and realization of advanced metrology in a commercial environment

• Ability to identify and focus on the most commercially meaningful embodiments of new concepts

• Strong skills in defining, planning and carrying out R&D
