What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Read and interpret health record documentation to identify diagnoses and procedures for inpatient encounters
- Complete final review of medical records and select appropriate ICD-10 and CPT codes within designated deadlines
- Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Specialists II to address documentation deficiencies
- Review records upon admission and throughout hospitalization to assign working diagnoses and DRG
- Organize and prioritize assigned work queues on a daily basis

What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School Diploma or GED
- Understanding of CPT and ICD-10 coding systems
- Certification in one of the following: CCA, CCS, CPC, RHIT, or RHIA; must obtain CCS within 12 months of hire
- Ability to assess health record documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, clinical disease processes, and medical terminology

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management
- Two (2) years of coding experience
