What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Code and abstract diagnosis and procedure information from patient medical records
- Utilize coding conventions and guidelines to assign accurate codes
- Maintain data quality coding accuracy rate
- Stay updated on coding conventions and payment systems
- Participate in department meetings and educational sessions
What is Required (Qualifications):
- RHIA, RHIT, or CCS eligible or currently enrolled in a Health Information Technology or related program
- Minimum 1 year of demonstrated ICD-10-CM coding experience in acute care setting
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, and medical terminology
- Experience with EPIC health information computerized patient record and 3M encoding system preferred
- AHIMA Certified (CCS, RHIA, or RHIT)
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with outpatient coding
- Familiarity with AHIMA coding credentials
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
