Job Description

- Patent application preparation and prosecution for patent assets in EMEA. Conducting and preparing freedom-to-practice studies, analyses and opinions regarding third party Intellectual property rights in EMEA
- Providing legal service on IP transactions, drafting and negotiating IP Agreements in EMEA
- Providing legal guidance with regard to IP risks and strategies. Communicating with and managing US and foreing outside counsel for EMEA IP matters.
- Conducting competitive analyses of IP landscapes; Providing intellectual property compliance training for EMEA
- Minimum 5 years of patent law of practicing before the European Patent Office, preferably also one of German/French/UK Patent Office.
- Must be experienced in drafting and prosecution of patent applications, handling EPO oppositions and appeals.
- Experience providing legal opinion on freedom to operate, non-infringement, invalidity matters in Europe.
- At lesat 3 years experience drafting and negotiating agreements preferred
- Excellent communication skills in at least English and preferably German and/or French.
- Self-directed professional with ability to prioritize and manage complex workload.
- Ability to navigate matrixed organization and work effectively across geogpraphies and time zones.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills with an ability to develop business-oriented and cost-efficient solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to establish trusted partnerships with senior management.
- University degree in techincal sciences: chemistry, engineering, physics, mechanical, et. Qualification as European Patent Attorney is required.
- National qualification: Germany, France, UK (possibly also Austria or The Netherlands) is preferred
