- Responsible for driving innovation and delivering expert business intelligence as it pertains to the modernization of the data and analytics offerings associated with the Water Resources Database (WRDB).
- Responsible for developing data-driven insights with the intent to provide expert advice and guidance to ERB customers seeking solutions to water- and environmental-related challenges.
- Provide consultation services to the Team Lead and/or Branch and/or Directorate Chief to improve data science relevant competencies within the organization.
- Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team to translate data science expertise into actionable tools and products for the analysis, display, integration, and dissemination of water resources geospatial data to military customers.
- Participate in interagency, national, and/or international meetings, conferences, briefings, symposia, and seminars relevant to current and future ERB data analytics needs.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires a drug test.
- This position requires the employee to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel Workforce for DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience for GS-13: One year of specialized experience which include 1.) applying broad areas of operations research, statistics, mathematics, modeling, data science, machine learning, and optimization to enable decision support operations; 2.) working with large and complex data sets and performing extensive analysis of volumes of data; 3.) designing and delivering frameworks to facilitate the data development lifecycle and transitions to cloud-based data solutions; and 4.) programming and applying Structured Query Language (SQL) and NoSQL 'big data' instances, open-source statistical packages, and commercial analytic tools for a range of problem sets.
