      Department Overview:

      The Division of Facilities Planning & Management (FP&M) is a full-spectrum service organization that builds, maintains, and operates the physical environment of the UW-Madison campus in support of the university's education, research, and outreach activities.

      FP&M works behind the scenes to coordinate campus planning, manage design and construction, maintain, and operate buildings and grounds, supply utility services, ensure health and safety, and provide parking and transportation services.

      Our campus customers include anyone who works, studies, visits, or lives on campus.

      Anticipated Start Date:

      January 2024 specific date to be discussed with applicant

      Anticipated End Date (If Applicable):

      Two-year commitment to include summer breaks is preferred.

      Remote Work Eligibility Detail:

      Not Remote

      Anticipated Hours Per Week:

      15-25

      Schedule:

      15-25 hours during semester

      Increased summer hours Student Intern will have the ability to develop their specific responsibilities and schedule in collaboration with the Interior Designers.

      Office hours are Monday-Friday 7:45-4:30pm. This is a minimum one-year commitment.

      Qualifications:

      Must be enrolled as a student in any accredited college.

      Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

      Soft skills:
      - Excellent organization and time management skills
      - High attention to detail and thoroughness
      - Ability to take initiative and work independently
      - Ability to communicate effectively
      - Previous customer service skills

      Hard skills:
      - Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
      - Experience with AutoCAD/Revit
      - Experience with Adobe

      Position Summary/Job Duties:

      • Participate in project design meetings to gather information important to the planning and specification of furnishings & equipment
      • Assist with creation and development of project documentation
      • Support the planning and specification of furnishings & equipment
      • Create and maintain furniture & equipment plans
      • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary design firms and teams
      • Participate in furniture & equipment installations
      • Other duties as required

      Physical Demands:

      Occasional: Ability to lift up to 50lbs
      Frequent: Standing, walking
