Facilities Planning and Design is comprised of design professionals who are responsible for the planning, design and management of all capital improvement projects. The projects include new buildings, repairs and renovation of existing buildings, major campus infrastructure, interior design, open space improvements and preservation of historic properties. Facilities Planning and Design ensures that the projects adhere to the principles of adapted land use plan and campus development guidelines.Position Summary
A SIGN-ON BONUS OF $6,087 IS AVAILABLE FOR THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT OF THIS POSITION PAID IN 2 INSTALLMENTS WITHIN 12 MONTHS OF HIRE:
$3,043.50 WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE DATE & $3,043.50 12 MONTHS AFTER HIRE DATE.
Program, design, and/or act as project manager for outside design professionals and related contractors for the interior renovation and/or new construction projects involving architectural and interior components, including interior detailing, finishes, furnishings, fixtures and equipment. Prepare interior construction documents, drawings and specifications for either in-house or outside contractors. All plans must comply with all state codes and university standards. Additionally, this position acts as in-house expert in interiors related areas including updating or informing UNC guidelines, maintaining or informing space or building standards, and having working knowledge of the latest interiors technology and products applicable for our institution. This process requires independent work with only minimal supervision.Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in art, interior design, or related discipline and experience in large-scale interior design; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Construction administration, interior design and space planning experience; and proficiency in AutoCAD, 20/20 software, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Office. Valid North Carolina Driver’s License or ability to obtain one prior to start date.Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Graduation from a four-year college or university with a BS or BA degree in Interior Design and at least seven years of experience in commercial and/or educational design or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Campus Security Authority Responsibilities

To be eligible for a Sign-on bonus, an individual must not have worked in a probationary, permanent, or time-limited appointment in the last 12 months as an employee in North Carolina state government, including without limitation the judicial system, state executive branch agencies, and the university system.
A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time (more than 20 hours a week) employee are eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working more than 20 hours and less than 40 hours per week).
This SHRA Sign-on Bonus is contingent upon budget and final eligibility determination as of the effective date of hire. All recipients must sign the Pay Back Agreement form.
