      Hennepin County District Court is pleased to offer an excellent opportunity for a candidate seeking to explore career choices in a professional court setting. With the guidance of the Court Reporter Unit (CRU) supervisors and lead workers, this internship will work closely with our court reporter scheduling and technology teams and provide skill professional and interpersonal skill development toward court administration and operations.

      This position is part of a cohort of internship positions with District Court for the summer, and will participate in professional development trainings, as well as opportunities to learn about the work of the courts and court reporter role in supporting the court's mission, vision, and values.

      This position is classified as an Intern, with a working title of Court Reporter Unit Intern for the summer of 2024. The position is temporary and expected to start on or around 5/29/2024 with an anticipated end date on or around 08/23/2024. Candidates will be considered on a full-time or part-time basis, which will be negotiated with the supervisor. This position may have some remote work opportunities.

      Standard business hours for District Court are 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. Scheduled work hours for this position will be finalized between the candidate and supervisor. This position will work in the Hennepin County Government Center located in downtown Minneapolis.
      • Learning importance of Court Reporter Unit, specifically the Technology and Scheduling Units and how it impacts Court Operations.
      • Learning audio quality parameters and performing quality checks
      • Support unit in tasks related to scheduling reporter requests on behalf of Chamber’s
      • Project based work involving analyzing and enhancing court reporter scheduling process
      • Project based work involving analyzing the storage and tracking of equipment.
      • Other administrative duties as assigned
      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
      • Bachelor's Degree or current enrollment with 1 year of completion from an accredited college or university.
      • Must be 18 years of age or older by 5/29/2024
      PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
      • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
      • Ability to professionally exhibit cultural sensitivity, patience, and understanding in the course of work duties
      • Ability to manage workload effectively including planning, organizing, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines
      • Ability to provide a level of customer service that meets/exceeds customer expectation and satisfaction while complying with court policies and procedures
      • Experience with audio technology (microphones, cameras, telephones and remote systems such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams)
      • Experience in programs as SharePoint or similar such programs
      • Experience using electronic document applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs, or Adobe Acrobat, with the ability to learn other, job-related software
