Be responsible for the development of the GRL and Wellcome Leap Risk Based Audit plans and continually evaluate and review the Plans to ensure they remain Risk focused, as well as evaluating the significance of new or changing services, processes and operations to the organisations audit universe and assess internal audit activity accordingly.
Implement the audit plans through delivery of high-quality audits, detailed planning, fieldwork, developing preliminary audit finding and holding audit discussions with senior stakeholders, as well as well as issues clear and concise internal audit reports focusing on findings, risks and agreed actions.
Lead on Monitoring, Reporting & Control Assessments using agreed dashboards/reporting mechanisms, and provide reports to the Audit and Risk Committees and management, advising on the results of internal audit activity and ensuring the plans are being delivered as agreed.
Provide insight on risks, issues and themes across GRL and Wellcome Leap, as well as identifying opportunities for improvement and how best to communicate these for action and impact.
Leading on the delivery of audits across Wellcome operations, grants recipients and partnerships as required by the Audit plan.
Contribute to a diverse and inclusive culture across the organisation, collaborating across departments.
Is professionally qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIA) or has previous internal or external audit experience. Previous risk management experience is also desirable.
Has the ability to execute audits in accordance with IIA standards and comfortable taking responsibility for the end-to-end audit process.
Is able to create good stakeholder relationships, has commercial acumen and business exposure, with an ability to influence all levels across the organisation, particularly senior stakeholders.
Is able to work as part of a team as well as independently, pragmatic in their approach and able to work under pressure and tight deadlines.

Where in Wellcome will I be working?
You will be working in the Internal Audit Team, reporting to the Head of Internal Audit and be responsible for delivering audits for Wellcome’s largest subsidiaries, Genome Research Limited (GRL) and Wellcome Leap
Internal audit assists the Audit and Risk Committee and Executive management to protect the assets, reputation and sustainability of the organisation. The team comprises of 11 team members, supported by two co-source consulting firms. They perform audits relating to all of Wellcome’s activities (e.g. funded institutions, Investments, Strategy, D&T, Finance, Wellcome Collection) as well as Wellcome’s subsidiaries (GRL, Wellcome Leap, Premier Marinas and Urban & Civic) and partner institutions.

You will be responsible for leading internal audits at Wellcome with a specific focus on the two largest subsidiaries, GRL and Wellcome Leap, including Internal Audit plans and Audit Committee reporting, to provide objective and independent assurance over the adequacy and effectiveness of their systems of risk management and internal controls.
