The International Sales Territory Account Manager - Canada & the Caribbean sells scientific laboratory supplies, equipment and reagents internationally to non-domestic environmental, industrial, government, educational, pharmaceutical, biotech, life sciences and medical research establishments by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Other duties may be assigned.
• Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from the company, trade shows, Internet Web sites, manufacturing representatives, and other sources.
• Studies data describing new products to develop sales approach.
• Compiles data on supplies, equipment and reagents preferred by customers.
• Talks with customers by phone or e-mail to solicit orders.
• Advises customers of products for given need based on technical knowledge of product.
• Displays or demonstrates product, using samples or catalog, and emphasizes salable features.
• Quotes prices and credit terms and prepares sales contracts for orders obtained.
• Estimates date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of own firm's production and delivery schedules, as well as shipping laws for exporting supplies and hazardous chemicals out of the country.
• Prepares, as needed, the appropriate documentation required to export merchandise to other countries.
• Prepares reports of business transactions and keeps expense accounts.
• Enters new customer data and other sales data for current customers into company database.
Investigates and resolves customer problems with deliveries.
• Attends trade shows.
• Provides reports on status of territory, as required.
• Writes business plans and updates as needed.
• Performs quarterly presentation on territory results and activities.
• Meets or exceeds projected sales forecast results.
• Works regularly with manufacturing representatives (1/week).
• Meets established company/territory sales and GP dollars goals.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
• Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) from a four-year college or university
• 3-5 years of sales experience preferred
• Proficient use of computer, business software, word processor and other common office equipment
• Good phone selling skills
• Must be able to perform work accurately and efficiently
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and general public.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, commissions, ratios, discounts, gross profit, and proportions to practical situations.
• Good human relation skills
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
