Oxfam Novib stands behind the people who stand up for equality. Together, we fight for a world where everyone has equal opportunities, regardless of gender, ethnicity, or skin color. A world where everyone feels safe; where income gaps are shrinking instead of growing, where climate change is tackled in a firmer and more honest way.
Equality is the common thread throughout our activities and projects, but also internally. We are aware that our team of colleagues can be even more diverse and that having a diverse team is the only way to see the world from a broad perspective. To obtain a multi-voiced team, we are therefore particularly calling on women, members of the BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities, or people with disabilities to apply for this internship.

Background
With a critical mass of influencing and programmatic interventions at international and national level, Oxfam is one of the world’s leading organizations on land rights. With actions spread across 30 countries, supported with international advocacy and policy engagement, we aim to achieve impact at all levels for equitable and just land rights.
Oxfam Novib, which is the Dutch affiliate of the global Oxfam confederation, has long worked on land rights and is currently focusing on two workstreams. The first is the coordination of Oxfam’s Global Land Rights Program. The Global Land Program brings together all efforts made by Oxfam at the community, national and international levels in protecting and securing land rights for sustainable development. It uses a three-pronged approach:
The second workstream on land rights within Oxfam Novib focuses on lobby & advocacy, both in the Netherlands and internationally. In order to structurally and effectively end extreme land inequality and its negative consequences, Oxfam Novib wants to hold powerholders to account for their positive and negative contributions to land inequality. This influencing work is underpinned by robust research on who owns and controls land on the one side, and on what the impacts are of land rights violations.
The intern will contribute to both workstreams. Within the Global Land Program, the intern will focus specifically on the Knowledge Hub Functions, and will also contribute to other components, as the knowledge hub function is key to provide coherence and advance collectively Oxfam work on land rights. Within the lobby & advocacy workstream, the intern will contribute to research on economic actors and their financial/economic interests in land use and land acquisition.
Objectives of this internship:
During the internship period, the student will have the opportunity to engage with Oxfam staff from different affiliates, various country teams, partners and allies of Oxfam in the sector.
Furthermore, this internship will offer Mentoring and supervision by Oxfam Novib staff, access to a global network of experienced staff and partners (CSO, INGOs, IGOs and Academia), work experience at an internationally based NGO and a professional reference if desired.
