      A Brief Overview
      The Investment Accounting Manager oversees the day-to-day accounting for various operating companies and holding companies. The role includes timely preparation and review of GAAP compliant financial statements including footnotes, account reconciliations, variance explanations and various lender and other reporting as well as the oversight of an accurate and complete general ledger. The Investing Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring that transactions are reflected in the general ledger in accordance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and company policy.

      What you will do

      • Responsible for oversight of the books and records for various entities including full financial statement preparation inclusive of footnotes for a sub-consolidation audit, various operating entities and holding companies.
      • Reviews the reporting packages to ensure compliance with internal and external requirements, ensures reconciling items and unusual transactions are analyzed and either explained, corrected and/or cleared in a timely manner.
      • Coordinates, reviews, and distributes financial reporting for senior management.
      • Assists in research of complex and subjective accounting/regulatory issues.
      • Oversees timely reconciliation and settlement of intercompany activity/balances.
      • Documents, evaluates accounting treatment with Director and oversees recording of complex investment activity/transactions in all stages of the investment cycle from acquisition to liquidation.
      • Collaborates with other accounting team members to establish/modify procedures to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the month, quarter and year-end closing and reporting cycles.
      • Reads, analyzes, and comprehends Accounting Standards Updates. Summarizes, updates and implements policies for new GAAP literature, disclosure requirements or changes to reporting requirements.
      • Documents the accounting analysis and concluded treatment for significant transactions.
      • Ensures that balance sheet accounts in areas of responsibility are appropriately reconciled with appropriate supporting documentation and that reconciling items clear in a timely manner for areas of responsibility.
      • Reviews team’s work product to ensure quality output is published in accordance with the assigned deadlines.
      • Evaluates implications of legal documents as they pertain to significant accounting transactions.
      • Prepares quarterly and annual debt covenant calculations.
      • Documents accounting policies and procedures.
      • Assists with external auditors and consultants to assist with various audits and tax return preparation. Manages the preparation of supporting documentation, ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
      • May have exposure to oversight of enterprise wide data integrity monitoring and measurement.
      • Prepares ad hoc analysis to assist in budget variance investigation and forecasting.
      • Performs other duties and projects as assigned; there is a significant ad hoc component to this role requiring creativity and independent thought.


      Qualifications

      • Bachelor's Degree in accounting Required
      • Minimum five to seven years of accounting experience in a large and sophisticated corporate accounting and/or private equity fund reporting setting; Required and
      • Public accounting background Preferred
      • Knowledge of fair value, investment company guide, revenue recognition and leasing accounting standards.
      • Ability and flexibility to effectively function and multi-task in a dynamic and fast paced setting.
      • Strong knowledge of financial statement preparation including footnote preparation, GAAP and internal control policies and procedures required.
      • Demonstrated ability to research, interpret and communicate a variety of technical accounting issues.
      • Demonstrated strong relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g. asset management, senior/executive management, peers and colleagues); proven ability to develop creative and collaborative approaches.
      • Management ability to direct, guide, motivate, and develop staff.
      • Ability to prioritize for self and others, strong organizational skills.
      • Ability to define problems and organize efficient solutions, analyze data, and draw valid conclusions.
      • Knowledge of Registered Investment Advisor roles/responsibilities and Limited Partner communication/reporting requirements.
      • Strong working knowledge of ERP financial systems and proficiency with MS Office suite including advanced working knowledge of MS Excel.
      • Requires a detail oriented, self-starter who takes initiative and can be a part of a team.
      • Must demonstrate strong attention to detail, and demonstrate knowledge of accounting practices and procedures.
      • Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and industry professionals.
      • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Preferred
