Department Overview:
The Waisman Center is dedicated to the advancement of knowledge about human development, developmental disabilities, and neurodegenerative diseases throughout the lifespan. One of 15 centers of its kind in the United States, the Waisman Center encompasses laboratories for biomedical and behavioral research, several scientific research cores, and a clinical biomanufacturing facility for the production of pharmaceuticals for early-stage human clinical trials. In addition to its research efforts, the Center provides an array of services to people with developmental disabilities, offers numerous educational and outreach programs to young children and their families, and trains scientists and clinicians who will serve our nation in the future. 1-4 Qualifications:
Current undergraduate or master’s student Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Prior research experience is preferred; experience with direct service provision, advocacy, and/or research focused on autistic people is preferred
Position Summary/Job Duties:
- Assisting with participant recruitment and retention [10%],
- Assisting with participant scheduling [10%],
- Running MRI visits and administering basic questionnaires [40%],
- Helping set up for participant testing [10%],
- Assisting with data quality control (i.e., score checking and RedCAP double data entry) [20%],
- Any other task relevant to participant enrollment and data collection [5%], and
- Attending lab meetings (as schedule allows) [5%].
The ISLA-A project, a National Institute of Mental Health-funded Autism Center of Excellence, focuses on research into understanding how aging affects health, cognitive, brain and well-being outcomes in autistic adults. This student hourly would help with participant recruitment and scheduling, running MRI visits and administering basic questionnaires, participant testing setup, and quality control of testing data.Physical Demands:
In-person attendance at the Lainhart Lab at the Waisman Center for tasks as necessary.
Per participant need, comfortability with staying in the MRI scan room. Must pass metal screener for safety reasons, as the MRI magnet is a very strong magnet.Institutional Statements:
