      This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command.

      It is in the Professional Work Category at the Full Performance Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA Operations Division.

      Duties


      • Provides assistance to review and evaluate cyber intelligence reports on new or evolving threats to DoD networks, open-source reports, and DNC-generated Incident Reports and Tippers.
      • Assist a senior IT Cybersecurity Specialist (INFOSEC) in conducting expert-level information security analysis through the combination of captured data, technical sensor feeds, to devise and implement timely, actionable mitigation measures.
      • Applies an understanding of CNE, Computer Network Attack (CNA), and associated tools, to obtain situational awareness of potential actors who might be targeting DoD.
      • Monitors Defense Information Systems Network health to create timely and efficient resolution of network issues, and provides timely, accurate and relevant information/updates to impacted leadership, customers and the DISA Joint Operations Center.
      • Exercises discretion and independent judgment in providing support to advanced threat analysis operations, cyber hunting activities, data and information correlation, technical and non-technical indicator development.
      • Maintain a high level of understanding and awareness of the current threats to DoD networks with emphasis to those in the Directorate AOR.
      • Conducts information sharing to enhance attack detection and mitigation tactics, as directed by the DoD, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS), United States Cyber Command (USCYBERCOM), and DISA directives and operations orders.

      Requirements


      • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
      • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
      • This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
      • This is a drug testing position.
      • Shift work hours: Hill AFB Shift Hours- Days: 0500-1330; Swings: 1300-2130; Mids: 2100-0530; Columbus, OH Shift Hours: Days: 0700-1530; Swings: 1500-2330; Mids: 2300-0730; Scott AFB Shift Hours- Days: 0600-1430; Swings: 1400-2230; Mids: 2200-0630
      • This position has been designated as "Mission Essential." Incumbent will be required to report to work or relocate to a new duty location, within the United States, in times of local/national emergency.
      • Work may require travel away from the normal duty station
      • Salary range includes a Targeted Local Market Supplement (TLMS) in accordance with Section 1599f of Title 10 U.S.C. and Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 1400.25, Volume 3006
      • This position requires shift work.
      • This position is subject to completing Foundational Qualifications and Residential Qualifications in accordance with the DoD 8140 policy series.

      Qualifications

      Basic Requirements:
      Attention to Detail- experience reviewing my own information technology-related work or data and have been asked by others to review their work or data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards
      Customer Service - experience maintaining relationships with customers, assessing current information technology needs of customers, and developing or identifying information technology products and services that are tailored to meet customer needs
      Oral Communication -briefing mid-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of technical information to a non-technical audience
      Problem Solving - identifying alternatives to address complex information technology-related issues by gathering and applying information from a variety of sources that provide a number of potential solutions


      Qualifying Experience:
      To qualify at the GG-12, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Experience providing IT customer service and senior briefing on network security threats and vulnerabilities; and assisting with developing security and intelligence requirement recommendations to protect the network from attacks.
