      This position is located in the Product Delivery Service (PDS), Office of Information and Technology (OIT), VistA Clinical Applications serving, as a Senior IT Specialist responsible for performing moderately complex duties and responsibilities associated with the IT specialty area required to support the VistA Applications Division for Clinical Applications.

      Duties


      Major Duties:
      -Plans, coordinates, develops, improves, and implements efficient and economical management of information systems in support of Service Line activities.
      -Accomplishes long and short-range projects in the modification of systems and software.
      -Provides guidance for the solution of difficult and unprecedented problems resulting from new or modified operational management information concepts and requirements.
      -Applies limited functional knowledge of material, in implementing new and/or improved information systems.
      -Applies extensive knowledge of changes in the state-of-the-art regarding integrated information and control systems analysis and other scientific management techniques used in the implementation of information systems.
      -Provides feedback to the Supervisor on information gained.
      -Researching and testing products and services to support the information plan and directives to determine requirements, life-cycle management to determine support and replacement resource requirements.

      Work Schedule: M-F, 8:00-4:30 pm

      Qualifications


      To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 12/24/2024.

      You must meet both the Basic Requirement and the Specialized Experience to qualify for this series as described below.

      Information Technology (IT) Management Series 2210 (Alternative A) (opm.gov)

      BASIC REQUIREMENT: Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below at a proficiency level equivalent to the next lower grade level in federal service.
      1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
      2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
      3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
      4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

      • Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS 12 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: overseeing and monitoring the day-to-day technical operations of a work unit/office; experience using VistA software (Electronic Health Record).
      • Selective Placement Factor: Experience mentoring, training, troubleshooting, installing and coordinating VistA and VistA related clinical applications (i.e., CPRS, Pharmacy, Imaging/Radiology, and Lab) with multiple service lines, site staff, and national groups.
