- Conduct detailed assessments of learner’s professional backgrounds, skills, and educational experience to refer them to suitable employment opportunities.
- Coach and prepare learners for the labour market with the job application process and collaborate with IGS Career Planner to prepare learners including resume customization, cover letters and mock interviews.
- Follow up with learners upon course completion with continued job development support to achieve employment goals.
- Labor market research
- Act as the primary contact for new employers seeking a relationship with the College to determine hiring needs and support their engagement through job postings, coordinating campus recruitment visits, referrals to faculty and placement advisors for capstone projects.
- Investigate new employers seeking a relationship with the College to ensure they are reputable and providing valid job opportunities for students and alumni.
- Proactively build and nurture relationships with employers and relevant industry associations; collaborate with partners and colleagues both internally and externally.
- Liaise and follow up with employers to promote the program and student profiles to source job leads and secure employment opportunities for learners.
- Source Industry Professionals specialized in various HLO skills to present for CIE course.
- Assist with sourcing industry professionals to participate in Career Mentorship Program.
- Network with program alumni to source co-op and post-graduation job opportunities.
- Organize employer hiring and networking events, industry speakers, lunch and learns and employer pop ups.
- Collaborate with Career Planner to organize mock interviews.
- Refer learners and alumni to the Alumni Leadership Program, the Career Mentorship Program or other industry contacts that may align with career goals.
- Assist new employers in registering and post jobs on myIGS Job Board.
- Facilitate user onboarding by approving employer accounts and job postings to support
- system functionalities.
- Utilize other system functionalities to increase employability outcomes for the IGS learners.
- Monitor student applications, follow up and refer those students who have landed interviews to Career Planner for mock interview practice.
- Act as the key point person and a catalyst to resolve problems and conflicts with students and employers, escalating when necessary.
- Research and develop best practices, policies & procedures for myIGS Job Board to ensure consistent application of system functionality by IGS team.
- Utilize one-stop shop campus portal to effectively communicate employment activities to learners and support them through the portal.
- 3-year diploma/degree in Business, Technology, or related field.
- Project Management training is considered an asset.
- 3+ years of experience in career development, mentoring, teaching, and/or international student success in a post-secondary environment.
- Demonstrated experience setting-up, designing, managing, and facilitating virtual/hybrid learning experiences and programs for professionals/adult learners.
- Experience supporting international graduate students, newcomers to Canada or non-native English speakers develop career-focused skills.
- Experience in program management with preferred experience in the employment and training sector or recruitment industry is an asset.
- Experience working with student engagement systems/software to develop, maintain, track and record program data is an asset.
- Experience with utilization of social media as a networking and marketing tool is an asset.
- Self-starter with excellent organization, planning, and time management skills to achieve goals with the ability to lead and influence action as part of an integrated team.
- Ability to build relationships, collaborate, and effectively engage industry partners/professionals and international alumni.
- Demonstrated understanding of the needs of local employers, and how mentoring can support international students and employers meet their professional development needs.
- Excellent presentation and group facilitation skills and ability to communicate effectively with a diverse student population, and non-native English speakers.
- Demonstrated ability to support international students in their own learning and reflection.
- Proficient with relevant technology, presentation software, including facilitation tools (e.g., polling platforms), social media/online platforms, and Learning Management Systems (e.g., Blackboard).
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and other productivity tools.
- Ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.

Job Details:
Position Title: IGS Job Developer
Status: Regular Part-time Support
Hours: 24 hours per week
Faculty/Department: International Graduate School
Campus/Location: IGS campus
Salary: EPEW Band 8 (Min $30.62 to Max $35.50)About the IGS Job Developer Role:
Under the general direction of the Manager, ICHub, the Job Developer is accountable for employer outreach and relationship management, and job development services for graduate students enrolled in programs at the IGS. The incumbent will be primarily responsible for liaising with employers to market the program and its participants, securing and broadcasting job leads, supporting participants with the job application process, organizing hiring events, inviting employers as guest speakers and networking with program alumni for job opportunities. The incumbent will proactively build and nurture relationships with employers and associations, collaborate with partners and colleagues both internally and externally, and maintain knowledge of industry trends and needs. The job developer is the primary contact person for employers for MyIGS Job Board and is responsible for approving employer accounts and job postings. Additional duties include providing ongoing job coaching to participants and graduates including interview preparation, resume, and cover letter preparation and customization, conducting mock interview sessions, and employer follow up.
