      The Journeyman Electrician will support Denver Zoo's mission by p erforming skilled level electrical work in the maintenance, event space, repair, and installation of electrical systems and equipment at the Zoo.

      Essential Duties and Responsibilities

      • Coordinate and schedule maintenance work orders assigned by Shop Manager, work orders can include responding to electrical service calls, troubleshoots various problems/issues, and provides problem resolution.
      • Coordinate and Schedule with staff throughout the zoo using email, Facility Dude, and calendar invitations.
      • Use the current computerized maintenance management system to receive work order assignments, track employee time, and provide thorough description of tasks performed.
      • Perform maintenance, alteration, repair, and installation of electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures in accordance with standard practices of the electrical trade and according to NEC.
      • Install new or upgraded electrical equipment and/or systems for the purpose of construction, tenant finishing, zoo events, Zoolights or remodeling.
      • Is available during the attendance of Zoo Lights to ensure program’s electric operational success.
      • Provide backup for setup and strike audio, video, lighting, staging equipment and assist with event props for corporate and zoo-wide special events.
      • Respond to Maintenance daily service/ radio calls.
      • Provide exceptional customer service to Zoo employees, guests and maintenance customers.

      Other Responsibilities and Duties

      • Prepare work plans using blue prints, sketches, and schematics.
      • Plan and coordinate installation, maintenance, and repair work with other trades areas.
      • Maintain records, prepares reports and submits completed work orders in a timely manner.
      • Prepare cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment.
      • Prepare draft evaluations and makes recommendations to the Maintenance Supervisor/Master Electrician regarding same for workers in the Electrical Shop.
      • Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, Local and Company safety policies, procedures and/or regulations.
      • Flexible schedule to be available for event start up (typically as late as 7pm) and weekend shifts.

      Technical / Professional Requirements & Qualifications

      • Minimum of five years employment as a Journeyman Electrician.
      • Detailed knowledge of safety hazards and necessary safety precautions sufficient to be able to establish a safe work environment.
      • Ability to operate (with periodic training) various pieces of equipment such as high lift, backhoes, Bobcats and forklifts.
      • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, analyze, and identify system malfunctions to determine the source and cause of the problem.
      • Knowledge of engineering concepts, principles, and practices, and of equipment, tools, mechanical devices, and their uses to produce motion, light, power, technology, and other applications.
      • Ability to read and work from manuals, blueprints, written and verbal instructions.
      • Knowledge of electrical equipment, components, instruments, and burglar and fire alarm systems including installation, testing, uses, repair, and maintenance.

      Position Conditions

      • Ability to pass a physical examination, background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol screen.
      • Clear driving record.
      • A valid Journeyman Electrician License issued by the State of Colorado or proper certificate issued by the City and County of Denver, as needed or necessary per position requirements.
      • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

      Compensation

      Range for this position is $27.37- $36.60 (hourly)
