      As a Black & Veatch professional, you’ll be working on sustainable solutions to some of today’s biggest energy challenges.

      As a Junior Civil Engineer, you will be working in a dynamic and technically focused Civil Engineering team, supporting project delivery across multiple sectors including renewables (solar PV, BESS, onshore wind, offshore wind, hydrogen and marine energy), data centres and conventional power. You will be involved in a wide variety of design tasks to support the delivery of multiple Civil Engineering schemes throughout the United Kingdom.

      This role can be based in either our Glasgow city centre or central London office, with the option to work from home 2 day per week. Regular travel to sites may be required, so please note you must be able to drive for this role.

      Key Responsibilities

      • Work effectively on several renewable energy projects concurrently.
      • Undertake engineering and design of multiple energy/power related projects.
      • Participate in site visits and client meetings.
      • Liaise and coordinate with external organisations.
      • Working alongside senior Engineers to undertake feasibility studies, calculations, design, specifications and reports for various energy and power related projects.
      • Progress to provide grid connection and compliance support for renewable energy projects.
      • Assist with various marketing and tender initiatives.
      • Co-ordinating with the CAD team to deliver engineering drawings, reviewing and amending AutoCAD drawings accurately and efficiently according to the design brief

      Minimum Qualifications

      • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
      • Minimum of 1 years relevant experience in civil engineering design.
      • You must have the legal right to work in the UK.
      • English language proficiency at C1/2 standard (written and spoken)
      • Full UK Driving Licence.

      All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

      Preferred Qualifications

      Desired knowledge areas:
      • Key renewables energy technologies such as; solar PV, BESS, onshore wind, offshore wind and marine energy.
      • Design of onshore civil works including the following experience:
      o Outline design, and/or FEED of civil works such as, onshore cable route, substation layout, access roads, building layout design, drainage plans.
      o Basic knowledge of construction and constructability practices and principles.
      o Application of recognised standards/codes of practice for the design of terrestrial and nearshore civil works.
      o Design in accordance with Health & Safety legislation and regulations (e.g. CDM Regs).
      • Basic knowledge of CAD with the understanding of how to incorporate technical accuracy, scaling, title blocks, drawing frames, and units.
      • Some site experience is preferred (although not essential)

      Desired Skills:
      • Design of onshore civil works according to the design brief, to best practice and recognised design standards/codes.
      • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD for civil engineering projects including experience in the contributing to the drafting of plans, elevations, sections and engineering details.
      • Experience inputting to the delivery of projects in accordance with the pre-defined budgets, deadlines and quality requirements.
      • Ability to effectively communicate to different stakeholders.
      • Time management is key to this role so an ability to manage multiple tasks, throughout your working week is paramount.
      • Support continuous improvement. Review of design inputs to ensure consistency.
      • Well-developed report writing skills, using MS Word.
      • Adherence to companywide ISO 9001 quality standards procedures and specific design management plans.
      • Assist with coordination as required with other design team members to review and exchange project information necessary for design development.
      • Regularly and accurately reporting the status of deliverables (documents, drawings) to project management.
