Job summary
Clinical Fellow in Genitourinary Medicine and HIV We invite applications for a Clinical Fellow post in HIV/GUM (SHO equivalent). An opportunity has arisen to join our supportive team in our busy London clinic, extending services across both community and specialist hospital provision for six months in the first instance.

Main duties of the job
The post-holder will deliver GUM and HIV services at 10 Hammersmith Broadway (10HB), part of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. 10HB provides care for a diverse population encompassing routine and specialist HIV/GUM and contraception delivery. The post-holder will gain an excellent foundation in the field, within a supportive, educational environment. There is no on-call commitment attached to this post; however the post-holder may be required to work within the evening clinic Successful applicants will be assigned an educational supervisor. Although the post is not educationally approved, the post-holder will have access to the same departmental educational sessions as their counterparts in approved training programmes. The possession of MRCP is not an essential requirement of these appointments. Junior Clinical Fellows are encouraged to involve themselves in audit and research projects.

Job responsibilities
The post is for a full-time Junior clinical fellow (ten sessions) working 40 hours per week in HIV & Sexual Health medicine based at 10 Hammersmith Broadway (10HB), one CWHFTs community HIV and sexual health services. The clinic comprises a friendly and supportive multidisciplinary team, delivering a wide range of services including routine and complex sexual and reproductive healthcare and prevention, along with HIV out-patient care. The post-holder is responsible to the 10HB Lead Consultant (Dr R Jones) and accountable to the Clinical Director for HIV, Sexual and Gender Health (Prof M Boffito).
The post-holder will be responsible for investigating, diagnosing and treating sexually transmitted infections and all aspects of sexual and reproductive health within the main GUM clinic. They will be expected to be involved in specialist GU clinics and assist in the development of new clinical services. Following on from the COVID-19 pandemic and mpox outbreak, the 10HB team are keen to enhance care for individuals who may have struggled to access the system during the restrictions. In addition, the post-holder will also be responsible for checking and acting on laboratory results and discussion of these results with senior medical staff as required/appropriate. They would also have the opportunity to develop their own skills and interests with the support of a dedicated clinical supervisor.
The post-holder will be responsible for arranging appropriate onward internal and external patient referrals and correspondence with General Practitioners as relevant. As outlined below, the post-holder will also be expected to contribute to non-clinical duties e.g. clinic rota co-ordination and managerial responsibilities as delegated. The doctor shall contribute to the development of the multidisciplinary team by offering support, education and teaching/training where required. The post holder will be expected to contribute to local and general teaching, including support of students attending the clinic.
