      What we need!

      We're seeking an enthusiastic individual eager to learn new skills and take on exciting tasks. Our Technical Operator will assist in the logging and management of broadcast technical equipment for various departments within BBC Sport. This role involves fulfilling hire requests from productions and technical departments, tracking and managing equipment in a central system, and collaborating with senior team members to optimize equipment usage and identify maintenance needs. Our Tech Op will leverage their experience in the PCA and Sportswire to gain a deep understanding of our technical workflows and be prepared for potential Technical Operator shift coverage

      • Experience with and willingness to learn new systems, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Smartsheet, Google Sheets, or similar database systems
      • Attention to detail and accuracy
      • Openness to learning new systems and processes.

      What Experience we’re looking for!

      • General office runner duties in support of gallery and studio staff – taking on ad-hoc tasks assigned to them with a positive manner.
      • Setting up the edit suites, and other areas as required, ready for clients, ensuring they are presentable and flagging and following up on any technical or facility issues and meet client expectations
      • Fulfilling client hire requests for broadcast technical kit.
      • Management of the Kit Hire Inbox including responding to clients in a professional and timely manner
      • Maintaining a regular overview of kit availability, auditing overdue or damaged kit and flagging discrepancies
      • Proactively plan for times of heavy kit usage, joining planning meetings and pre-empting kit requirement discussions with major event production teams.
      • Liaising with the Senior Technical Operator on technical kit health-checks.
      • Maintaining databases correct and up to date with 100% accuracy.
      • Support the Technical post production team’s work across Sportswire and PCA
      • Support of the scheduling team and Head of Post Production, including use of the scheduling system to input rotas and proactively checking for discrepancies in rota information.
      • Developing a good understanding of technical equipment and systems within Picture Shop remit, building strong relationships with production and suppliers to understand technology being used on shoots.
      • Keeping up to date with new technology and systems used by the company

      Other Important information!

      • 5 x 8 or 4 x 10-hour days per week, as required. (Days may be shifted, i.e 3 days in one week and 5 in another)
      • Occasional weekend working – this is Sport!
      • Early, late and overnight shifts as required
      • Some bank holidays including Christmas / New Year
