- Evaluate ingredients and products via microbiology evaluation to determine and compliance with standards.
- Prepare samples for ingredients, intermediate or finished products, or other materials to perform analyses (e.g., physical, sensory, microbiological).
- Interpret data from routine and non-routine analyses to validate those ingredients/materials meet specifications and approve for use or shipment. Generate QN when ingredients/materials do not meet specifications.
- Coordinate the environmental monitoring program.
- Execute Sampling and analysis of samples.
- Document, evaluate and communicate results for any action required.
- Generate Quality Notification for any result out of tolerance as indicated.
- Coordinate the Process Water monitoring program.
- Execute Sampling and analysis of samples.
- Document, evaluate and communicate results for any action required.
- Generate Quality Notification for any result out of tolerance as indicated.
- Analyze Rinse Water and Swabs samples from manufacturing cleaning process.
- Evaluate results and communicate any out of tolerance.
- Evaluate and communicate impact of out of tolerance results in Finished Product batches.
- Record data from analyses or experiments in a computer, logbook, or laboratory notebook.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation (e.g., troubleshooting, calibrating/verification, and repairing).
- Conduct inspection of the laboratory or laboratory procedures to ensure conformance to internal (e.g., The Coca-Cola Quality System) or external certification requirements.
- Dispose of expired reagents and media according to schedules and expiration dates to keep laboratory area clean and safe.
- Develop or validate laboratory test methods or equipment (sampling, monitoring, analytical procedures) to ensure reliability and accuracy of analytical results. This may include performing capability studies.
- Perform data audit to ensure accuracy of data and analytical processes. This may include statistical process control or correlation study.
- Organize workflow and task schedules to maximize laboratory efficiency (e.g., prioritize sample analysis, assign tasks, preventative maintenance).
- Participate in finding solutions for distressed and problem batches to minimize losses.
- Process incoming or outgoing samples (e.g., receiving, logging, labeling, shipping) using tools to ensure that samples are traceable and properly distributed for analysis.
- Collaborate with continuous improvement efforts of laboratory processes and key measures including quality and service.
- Participate in investigations and perform root cause analysis to external and internal complaints and deviations.
- Ensure proper handling of nonconforming material by placing the required status labels to materials on inventory and coordinating their segregation according to company procedures.
- Participate and promote activities with the OE Team that contribute toward continuous improvement (5’s, workplace audit, T Cards, Idea Cards, Big C, Tip Plan, Communication Center, etc.).
- Participate in CPS Laboratory Network (Microbiology) as QA Laboratory representative.
- Active participation in the Caribbean Refrescos Food Safety Team as required.
- Microbiologist in a regulated industry (Food, Pharma or Medical Device)
- Microbiology Laboratory Good Laboratory Practices & Data Integrity (ALCOA)
- Microbiology Laboratory Instrumentation knowledge
- Knowledge of environmental Monitory in a regulated industry

Carry out all related activities of the continuous microbiology testing of ingredients, finished products, process water, rinse water, cleaning process and environmental monitoring with impartiality and confidentiality of the results generated. Coordinate, sample, analyze and evaluate Environmental Monitory Program for CPS North America- Puerto Rico manufacture facility.
