      Laboratory Analyst (P11)

      We’re on the lookout for a Laboratory Analyst to provide analytical support to production and optimize existing laboratory methods and techniques in order to ensure the quality of the in-process and final product.

      As a Laboratory Analyst you will be responsible for:

      • Routine analysis of water and effluent samples, boiler water and demineralization samples, copeland reactor and liquor samples
      • Conducting random analysis of chemical preparation plant reactor and generator efficiency samples to ascertain plant effectiveness
      • Conducting quality checks on incoming raw materials to maintain consistency in quality of mill products
      • Participating in Sappi Proficiency testing scheme
      • Conducting internal equipment calibrations, arranging of external equipment calibrations and services
      • Reviewing, updating, maintaining work Instructions and developing new test methods for better work practices
      • Preparing work orders for repairs to any entity of the technical building in areas of Electrical, Mechanical, Instrumentation and Civils
      • Inventory Control of all laboratory consumables and creating of SAP requisitions

      What are we looking for?

      • National Diploma Analytical Chemistry
      • BSc/ BTech in Chemistry or in Quality will be an advantage
      • 2 – 5 years’ experience preferably within a pulp and paper, manufacturing or laboratory environment.
      • SAP systems experience
      • The ability to work under pressure while following all procedures and standards
