      Description:

      St. Mary Medical Center, a member of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, is looking for a full time Lead Host/Hostess to join our Dietary Team!

      Schedule: Full Time
      Shift: 11:00am-7:30pm


      *Must be flexible to work every other weekend and holiday rotation as needed
      Hiring Requirements

      The main focus of the Lead Host/Hostess is to work in the cafe at St. Mary Medical Center. The Lead Host/Hostess is responsible for overseeing a team of host/hostesses, while also assisting with kitchen duties.

      Job Description:

      • Accurately records all diet order information from the nursing floors and computer in the appropriate areas.

      • Accurately records house snacks, tube feedings and calorie counts.

      • Accurately verifies menus to ensure diet order compliance, food intolerances and patient requests.

      • Updates and maintains patient records in dietary cardex.

      • Arranges patient menus in proper sequence for tray line each meal.

      • Checks patient trays and ensures all items on tray are accurate.

      • Answers telephone in a courteous manner. Identifies self and department when receiving or placing calls at all times.

      • Messages are dated, specific and legible for tray line personnel.

      • Assures late trays are promptly delivered.

      • Accurately determines counts based on census and records on production sheets.

      • Routinely assists with department QA and provides verbal and written suggestions for improvement in patient care.

      • Assures that proper amounts of menus and office supplies are available at all times.

      • Prepares cold food according to production sheet, as needed.

      • Assembles meals accurately according to menu selection and diet using proper portion control guidelines as needed.

      • Ready to begin meal service at the proper time

      • Ensures maintenance of proper food temperature throughout all phases of food handling

      • Covers, labels, dates and stores all leftovers promptly in accordance with DOH & HACCP regulations

      • Maintains a safe, clean and orderly environment

      • Cleans and sanitizes assigned work station after each meal period

      • Removes all trash and debris from serving area

      • Assigns Hostess to job tasks and ensures that the required duties are completed accurately and efficiently.

      • Completes assigned cleaning projects in a timely manner

      • Assists Dieticians with Patient requests to improve patient satisfaction.

      • Assures that only minimal amounts of food are ‘dished-up” during meal times.

      • Delivers floor stock to unit pantries according to guidelines, as needed.

      • Completes all information on the late tray log

      • Communicates food run outs during meals and notifies Food Production Manager.

      • Assures that meals are garnished according to guidelines

      • Removes all catering equipment and left over food from the catered location in a timely manner to ensure recovery of all equipment and to ensure a sanitary environment in the hospital

      • Utilizing spoons, ladles, tongs spools or other utensils to portion food in accordance with departmental production guidelines

      • Follows all department recipes for food production to ensure correct and consistent product

      • Adheres to food service handlers regulations by wearing clean uniforms, gloves and hat/hairnets while working with food and food equipment

      • Communicates all evening catering events scheduled to the evening shift to ensure timely delivery

      • Reports missing catering equipment to department management as soon as possible to assist in recovering equipment

      Minimum Qualifications:

      HS diploma or equivalency

      Food service experience in a healthcare setting required

      Food service leadership experience preferre
