      The Franklin Equity Group Innovation Team is a team within the Franklin Equity Group, that manages money that is focused on innovation across a variety of mutual funds and other investment vehicles. The AUM of the Franklin Innovation team is over $20 billion. The Franklin Equity Group brings together more than six decades of investment experience offering in-depth expertise in managing global, U.S., sector and thematic equity strategies across the style and market-capitalization spectrum. We believe that attractive risk-adjusted returns can be achieved over time by using a team-oriented collaborative approach and disciplined, bottom-up fundamental research.

      The Lead Innovation Investment Writer works directly with the Lead Portfolio Manager of the team performing primary research in an effort to draft thematic content, investment insights, and economic content to use across Franklin Templeton’s communications platforms, including social media, industry publications, traditional media, and internal communications.

      This role will also create content for scheduled, recurring monthly, quarterly, and other periodic investment product commentary for multiple audience types: FA, broker dealer, institutional, sub-advised, international, boards and end-client use.

      What are the ongoing responsibilities of this role?

      • Write and oversee production of high-profile deliverables (e.g., thematic papers, market commentaries, crisis communications, media responses, social media, and special projects), serve as SME for business partners globally.
      • Originate ideas for content from industry news, research, investor calls, the Franklin Templeton Investment Institute, and discussions with Distribution. Conduct meetings/interviews with portfolio managers and senior management for new content and white papers.
      • Develop performance commentaries leveraging investment team and individual research, attribution reports and other data analytics.
      • Attend investment meetings with portfolio managers and research analysts to build knowledge of underlying investment strategies and learn the “voice of the PM” to effectively develop communications.
      • Manage assigned projects/deliverables by actively communicating with team members about deadlines and informing all interested parties of deliverable timelines and status.
      • May assist with the completion of RFPs, DDQs, pre-sale and post-sale marketing collateral and corporate communications.

      What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful?

      • At least 5 years of successful writing experience; financial services industry experience highly desired.
      • Must have experience with thematic content writing and investment product commentary.
      • Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a major in English, communications, economics, or similar discipline.
      • Solid, proven understanding of investment products and industry
      • Demonstrated success in adhering to schedules, multi-tasking, project management, attention to detail, organization of materials and cooperating with team members.
      • Knowledge of business desktop applications (i.e.: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Windows, etc.)
      • Effective interpersonal skills, proficiency at prioritization, proven experience with simultaneously managing multiple tasks, and the ability to operate under scheduled deadlines.
      • Proficiency in interpreting statistical and financial information; strong ability to translate data to support written statements.
      • Excellent research and analytical skills, including ability to perform mathematical calculations or analyses and accurately proofread documents.
      • Works autonomously, with limited general direction/supervision; work is reviewed for accuracy and reflection of investment team views.
      • Experience working with cross-functional and multi-channel teams (e.g., Portfolio Management, Marketing, Legal, Creative Services, Principal)

      Compensation Range: Along with base compensation, other compensation is offered such as a discretionary bonus, 401k plan, health insurance, and other perks. There are several factors taken into consideration in making compensation decisions including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. At Franklin Templeton, we apply a total reward philosophy where all aspects of compensation and benefits are taken into consideration in determining compensation. The salary, benefits and variable rewards will reflect the seniority of the position and a competitive market rate. We expect the annual salary for this position to range between $120,000 - $160,000.
